The remit of was to create a bolt neck format, yet supply huge output and sustain to best encompass the various facets of Jim's technique and Slipknot's mighty assault. Maverick Guitars suggested a carefully modified F-1 body fitted with a Canadian Maple custom-carved neck that produced innate resonance and sustain, further extended by the classic 50's tradition of thru-body stringing.
The Maverick Jim Root guitar required specific transparency and definition at intense volume. For this purpose, Maverick modified critical elements of their respected Active D.Tox pick-ups and applied a direct mounting technique to their beautifully carved JR4 body. With only a single volume control and 3 way selector, Mavericks' JR4 clearly stated its intentions to all.
