Ibanez JEM77 Floral - JEM77FP - Collectors Ibanez Floral JEM

Floral Ibanez JEMSo, where to begin on possibly the most symbolic of all of Ibanez JEM Series guitars? The historic JEM77FP.

Let's commence with a brief history. After the attempts of various prestigious guitar manufacturers during 1986, Ibanez succeeded in securing Steve Vai's scrutinous endorsement as a result of their superlative prototyping efforts on the 'Green Meanie'. 1987 saw the release of the first commercially available Ibanez JEM guitars in the guise of the JEM777. During the same year, Vai had the inherent idea to create a design modelled on the curtains found in his parents' home in New York. As a result, 1988 witnessed the illustrious partnership of Ibanez & Vai proudly unveil their legendary Ibanez JEM77FP.

Now generically referred to as the 'Floral JEM', this above all other models stands as testament to this pioneering and influential collaboration. The Floral JEM appears to have always held a special place in Steve's heart as relayed in the following simple quote from Vai.com

"The Floral JEM, the JEM77FP, debuted in 1988 and became Steve's favourite of the flock."

Guitar Religion presents one of these audacious instruments from the very first year of production. Our specific Ibanez Floral JEM has been loved, cherished and played for almost 25 years. Irrespective of the countless hours of loyal service provided to its previous keeper, this Ibanez JEM77FP is one the most effortless and soulful guitars we have ever encountered.
